PIPEMIDIN (Pipemidinum)

Main characteristic:
Chemical name: 8-ethyl-5,8 dihydro-5-oxo-2-(1-pyperasinyl)pyrido-2[2,3-d]-pyrimidyn-6-carbonic acid
Main chemica-physicall properties: tablets of white colour with cream shadow, with double-convex surface, facet.
Content: Pipemidic acid thrihydrate in calculation to pipemidic acid - 0,2 g or 0,4 g
Excipients: (milk sugar, solani amylum, low-molecular medicinal polyvinylpirrolydon, aerosil, magnesium stearate) - enough for achieving of tablet with the mass of - 0, 35 g or 0,7 g
Form of output: tablets of pipemidin 0,2 g and 0,4 g, containing 200 mg and 400 mg of pipemidic acid.
Pharmacological group: anti-microbial medicines.
Pharmacological properties: Pipemidin makes bactericidal action. It is active relatively to the majority of grammonegative as well as grammopositive microorganisms, including Staphytococcus aureus and specimen of families of Enterococcaeceae and Streptococcaceae. Cross-stability to pipemidic acid and antibiotics is not found out, quite the contrary, microorganisms, which are resistant to antibiotics, can be sensitive to pipemidin.
Pharmacokinetics: After administration inside pipemidin is quickly and fully absorbed. More than 70% of taken dose is excreted from organism with urine during 12 hours in active form, it allows to create in urine the concentrations of product, which exceed too much the minimally depressing concentrations for main irritators of infectious- inflammatory diseases of urination system.
Indications for administration: Pipemidin is intended for the treatment of acute and chronic infectious of urine-genital canal, which was caused by organisms, sensitive to it, including: uretritis, prostatit, pielonefritis.
Way of administration and dosage: Dosage regimen is individual. Pipemidin is administrated inside, to adults - 400 mg twice per day during 10 days, if it will be necessary, the treatment course may be prolonged. In some cases dose may be increased to 600 mg. Product's activity strengthens when urine is alkalized.
Side effects: During usage of pipemidin the development of breaches from side of gastric-intestinal canal (sickness, vomiting, diarrhea), appearance of allergic reaction in kind of skin rash, photosensebilisation are possible.
Contraindications: The product is contraindicated in case of individual sensitivity to pipemidic acid, under expressed breaches of liver's and kidneys' function (clirence of creatininum is less than 10 ml/min). It is not recommended for children and also pregnant women in 1st and 3rd terms of pregnancy.
Interaction with other drugs: Propyphenazone can strengthen action of peroral anti-diabetic, sulphanilamide medicines, anticoagulants, ulcerogene effect of corticosteriods. The efficiency of the preparation can decrease under simultaneous administration with cholestiramine, cholinolitics, antidepressants, alkaline substances.
Particularities of administration: During the treatment it is recommended to keep strengthened diuresis, ultraviolet radiation should be avoided in connection with the high risk of photosensibilisation's appearance.
Conditions and shelf-life: To keep in dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight. Conditions of output: Under prescription.
